Mobile/Smart phone Websites

It is true that searching from mobile/smart phones has increased dramatically - and some estimates suggest that as early as 2016, global mobile searches could pass conventional searches.  At Simply Good Websites we suspect that 'mobile' will revolutionise the planet as much as the internet already has, and quicker.

But firstly - don't panic.  Most websites are already searchable from mobile phones, and most users will be able to find what they want from your website with little effort.  smartphones.jpgIn the beginning users will be more forgiving - it is as the technology matures and new usages emerge that keeping up will become more important - and to be in a position to keep up it will be good to have already taken the first steps with this new technology.  So we do recommend that your company gets into mobile websites sooner rather than later.

It is obviously better for a mobile/smart phone user to have the web pages they see laid out to better suit the size of the mobile screen - and the quality of what they see plus the ease of use may affect their decision making.  Also some phones (iPhone in particular) don't show flash and might struggle with any multi-media on your website - including simple images.  This is not only because of screen size, but because mobile phones have less bandwidth and memory than a PC or Laptop will have.  Laying out the pages is not too hard to do and test, but taking full advantage of the new technology and avoiding any pitfalls may be tricky and take a little trial and error to perfect.
